909 Coffee & Wine

In lieu of a recipe post, I thought I’d share with you what and where I ate today for brunch! Truth is, my eats have been completely uninspired this week. I’m hoping to remedy that soon with a tomato soup recipe I found in an Italian cookbook of mine.

In need of some inspiration I headed to 909 Coffee & Wine with my good friend Stephanie this morning. After a night of Irish jigs, Irish Car Bombs, and lots of Irish fun at Kell’s in downtown Seattle, I had a hankering for something filling and savory. Luckily, Stephanie knows 909 well!

Located in the Old Town section of Burien (about 20 minutes south of Seattle), 909 is situated in an eclectic area, literally across the street from a country feed store and a Masonic Temple. The atmosphere was bustling with the only kind of energy that sunny, Saturday mornings can bring about in the Seattle area.

Sidenote: I have a theory (maybe I’ve mentioned it before) that Washingtonians are the true sun worshippers.

I started off with a 12 oz latte. This cup of coffee was the definition of perfection. Like any good Washingtonian, I have an inspired taste for good coffee- and I’m not talking about Starbucks.

Wanna know another random fact about me? I always look up menu’s for restaurants before I eat at them. I guess you can say I get a little excited. Therefore, it took me all of 5 seconds to decide that I was going to get the SW 152nd Scramble.

While we waited we talked about life, New York, our travels abroad, The Hunger Games, living situations, etc.

Day 4 of The Naked Face Project- so far so good!

And then the food came, at which point most conversation was halted. We were two hungry girls on a mission!

The great thing about 909 is that the portion sizes aren’t out of control. It’s certainly not like eating at a place like Denny’s for example (although I’m not hating on diners, I have a soft spot for them). They also make an effort to utilize fresh, sustainable, and when possible locally produced ingredients. You really can’t go wrong with that!

Afterwards, we split I ate a cinnamon roll. Stephanie copped out after a few bites, so I was more then then happy to indulge. What’s a Saturday for if not indulging a bit?
